Origins

LAYLO began with two classmates from business school in Køge, Sebastian and Jonas, who barely spoke to each other at the time. What brought them together was a TikTok marketing agency. Jonas started it with a friend, a third partner joined, and Sebastian came in last. One by one the others left, until only the two of them remained. The agency worked, but it was not what either of them wanted to build.

Clothing offered something else: a space where every creative idea had room. In 2023 the idea for LAYLO took shape, and in 2024 it became a company. It proved a far bigger undertaking than either of them had imagined, and a far more demanding one. They fell for it anyway: the craft, the creative process and everything in between.

The First Lesson

The first LAYLO product was a cap. It was made by a manufacturer in Indonesia, found through Instagram, and paid for upfront with 2,000 dollars, everything the two founders had saved. The samples were convincing. The production was not. Five months of delays, long negotiations and added shipping costs ended in a delivery far below the standard they had been promised. The launch earned just enough to fund the next production. Stopping was never considered. The experience became the foundation for everything that followed: an uncompromising focus on who LAYLO works with, and how.

In Search of the Right Hands

What followed was a long period of research and testing. The industry is full of manufacturers, and full of advice. LAYLO chose to trust its own experience. The search led as far as Portugal, where the founders met manufacturers in person and brought samples home. The trip confirmed what they had come to believe: for small, limited productions, their partners in China offered the skill and the relationship that made the most sense. Today LAYLO works with a supply chain it trusts, and with people it is proud to work alongside.

A Promise Kept

About two years ago, LAYLO released its first shell jacket. It spread across TikTok and sold out quickly. People kept asking for its return. It never returned. For a young, self-funded brand, that decision carries a real cost. But LAYLO had made a promise, and the promise held. At a time when the same viral pieces appear everywhere, LAYLO has chosen never to restock, because every piece should feel special. When a piece is gone, it remains part of the story.

A Considered Wardrobe

LAYLO is designed as a wardrobe rather than a collection of single pieces. Knitwear, sweatshirts, hoodies and outerwear, cut with a relaxed shape and finished with minimal logos, in a reduced palette of grey, black, white and beige. Blue is the only true colour: calm, versatile and, for both founders, a personal favourite. Every piece is made from materials chosen to last, so that what feels right at 25 still feels right at 45.

The Experience

For LAYLO, luxury is not only in the garment. It is in the moment it arrives. Every package is prepared with care, and every order carries a personal note written for the person who placed it.

Two Founders

LAYLO is still two people. No employees, no investors. Sebastian leads the creative direction and shoots every image. Jonas runs operations and production. The day begins at 07:30 with training, followed by planning, shoots or the practical work of running a brand. Three years in, neither founder draws a salary. Everything is reinvested into LAYLO.

The Wearer

LAYLO is made for those who care about quality, value what is subtly refined, and would rather not wear what everyone else is wearing. Recently, a customer came by the office to collect the latest jacket. Same age, same style, calm. Exactly who LAYLO is made for.

What Comes Next

LAYLO is built in Denmark, together with everyone who wears it. The ambition is to become the brand that came out of Denmark and put it on the map, and from there, to take it further.
